Tuesday is probably the most mundane of all the week days. It is the day that invokes no strong emotions from anyone. Everyone hates Mondays. We’re always glad to make it to Hump Day. Thursday is the new Friday. Friday will always be Friday.
However, next Tuesday (December 1st 2015) is different. Next Tuesday today is #GivingTuesday!
Birthdays For All has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
After we eat more than we ever should on Thanksgiving, most of us in the U.S. have the opportunity to take the day off work the next day to take part in the most widely recognized shopping event of the year, Black Friday. And if you didn’t get enough bargains on Black Friday, you get to shop online for deals on Cyber Monday.
After all of that excess shopping, we arrive at #GivingTuesday. We ask that you think about all of the children in Foster Care who live away from their families or in group homes. These kids don’t get excited about shopping incentives or online deals because they’re still wondering if they’ll ever get to see their parents again.
All they want this Holiday season is to be in a loving home and to have something they can be truly thankful for.
