We are so excited that Birthdays For All was featured in the August issue of South of Broad Living. Not only did we get a two page spread we were also on the cover! We are so grateful to the editor, Michell Champ, for graciously helping us and caring so much about foster children in the Lowcounty!
This was our first time featured in a print publication and it is incredible to know that it was delivered to every South of Broad resident in Charleston.

Neighbors Making A Difference
A brighter day for foster children in the Lowcountry
South of Broad resident, Steffi Green, was deep into the planning of the joint birthday party for her children, Olivia, 4, and Grayson, 1. She decided on the theme of Princesses and Knights and was busy looking on Pinterest for cake ideas. That day she read a Post & Courier article about the state of Foster Care in the Lowcountry. As she went back to shopping for silver spray paint to make the cardboard castles look more realistic, she could not shake the thought of the over 400 local children in foster care. Shockingly, most of the foster children do not live in foster families, but live in group homes due to the severe shortage of foster parents.
Steffi felt compelled to make sure that these children were celebrated on their Birthday too. She contacted Charleston County DSS and with their help getting wish lists and delivering the presents Birthdays For All was formed. Luckily for Steffi her husband, Ben Wong, has extensive knowledge of nonprofits and web design through his work at Blackbaud. They worked together to form Birthdays For All, founded on the belief that every Birthday is a celebration and recognition of how much each child has learned and grown throughout the year and every child has the right to have their Birthdays celebrated and recognized. It is our hope that the community will help show these children they are special and important by helping Birthdays For All provide Birthday presents for foster children.
If you or your child has a birthday coming up please consider asking for donations to Birthdays For All in lieu of gifts. The goal is for every foster child to feel loved on their Birthday.
